Last day for my ’50 Days’ series

Today is the last day that the drawings from my ’50 drawings in 50 Days’ series will be available to purchase. They will still be available as prints and cards but the originals will no longer be for sale. The project was very useful and informative and I learnt a lot about commitment, charcoal and even marketing. However, it is time to move on with new projects and so I am laying my first project to bed.
Thank you to everyone who supported me during this project – I hope you’ll join me for the next one. I’m still working on the details, but it will be paintings this time – though I’m not sure one a day is possible! We’ll see though. It would definitely be a massive challenge!

There are only a few days (well, there’s 11 to be precise) remaining to grab yourself a piece of original art work, from my ’50 Drawings in 50 Days’ series.

Each day I will feature one or two drawings that are still available to buy.

Today’s featured drawing is called ‘Donkey!’. ‘Donkey’ was inspired by a field full of donkeys near my cottage that I pass by every other day. The gorgeous donkeys attract so much attention from passers by, they really are local celebrities. My husband took to the one above and spent the whole time scratching the donkeys head while I was gathering my reference photos!

50 Drawings in 50 Days draws to a close!

As you may know my project ‘50 Drawings in 50 Days‘ officially ended with the last drawing on the 23rd of December. The drawings were all given specially reduced prices for the duration of the promotion.
This promotion is due to end on the 24th of February (13 days away). After this, the drawings will no longer be for sale.
However, prints and cards will continue to be available.

The project was originally inspired by watching a thoroughbred horse competing at Blair Horse Trials in Scotland. The class was the ex-racers class. The horse which captured my attention was a stunning dappled gray gelding. He was very mischievous and his poor rider was far less impressed with his antics than I was! He went on to star in quite a few of the drawings from the project. I just wish I had taken a note of his name when he was in the show ring – I would love to have the opportunity to draw from him again.

Other ‘stars’ included a trio of donkeys who live near by, more stunning horses from Blair Horse Trials, two gorgeous stunt horses from Riders of the Storm, a freisian horse from a demonstration at Scotland’s countryside fair at Glamis Castle, two adorable highland cows resident in Fife’s Animal Park, some pigs, a lama, a rooster and even a Hawk. Quite a variety.

The whole project came about after a day in the studio working on commissions. The work I was doing was highly detailed and by the end of the day I felt like i needed to do something to release all the pent up energy. So, I picked up a charcoal stick and let loose on some paper. The resulting drawing was very loose and free and energetic too, i think!

Then I noticed that there were 50 days until Christmas and so the project began – 50 Drawings in 50 Days.

I’ve not been around recently long enough to update my blog. However, I promise I have not been slacking! I’m working on some very interesting commissions at the moment and also working through the courses on offer at the Business Gateway and the Cultural Enterprise.

The courses are brilliant and very motivational. I’m even, slowly, getting to grips with networking! There were times when I never thought I would be able to say that. I am naturally quite shy (although some people may not believe that statement :) ) and I do find it hard talking about myself. But, I have enough conviction in my artwork to talk about that, so I am getting there.

I am currently working on my marketing plan and a few ideas have been suggested. Such as including testimonials in my advertising and website.
